What to Bring to Your Program
Here's everything you need to know about what to bring and what to wear to your BeachSports program. We provide most equipment, but bringing your own is always welcome.
What to wear
Girls:
- One-piece swimsuit or athletic two-piece — ideally with no strings or ties that can come undone during swimming or activity.
- Wetsuit top if you have one, especially helpful on cooler mornings in June and early July.
- Sweatshirt
Boys:
- Swim shorts that tie at the waist so they don't slide down during swimming or activity.
- Wetsuit top if you have one, especially helpful on cooler mornings in June and early July.
- Sweatshirt
All participants receive a rashguard/sunshirt on their first day (Monday), which must be worn every day of the program. See our Rashguard and Sunshirt Sizing Guide for help choosing the right one.
Equipment by program
BEACH Program
Definitely bring your own boogie board if you have one. We have lots of boards to share, but bringing your own means you'll always have one during water time and won't have to wait for one to become available. No other special equipment needed — just come dressed and ready for a day at the beach.
SURF Program
We carry a variety of surfboard sizes and have enough for every participant. That said, it can be helpful to learn on your own board, so bring it if you have one. Hard fiberglass or epoxy boards are welcome, but it will be up to the coach's discretion whether it's safe to use in the session.
- Wetsuits are strongly encouraged for SURF participants since you'll be in the water most of the day. Water temperature is typically in the upper 60s during June and early July, which can feel chilly until the sun warms up. If you're buying a wetsuit before your first day, we recommend one with long sleeves for added sun protection.
OCEAN Program
No special equipment needed. Just come in your swimsuit and ready for an active day.
- Wetsuits are a good idea for the same reasons as SURF — you'll be spending time in the water, so a wetsuit can be nice especially during the cooler mornings.
VOLLEYBALL Program
No special equipment needed. Just come in your swimsuit and ready to play.
SKATE Program
We have skateboards available, but we encourage participants to bring their own if they have one. Helmets are required and provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Knee pads and elbow pads are also provided. Wrist guards are encouraged but not required.
